WTUS82 KKEY 041536 HLSKEY FLZ077-078-042345- Tropical Storm Debby Local Statement Advisory Number 9 National Weather Service Key West FL AL042024 1136 AM EDT Sun Aug 4 2024 This product covers the Florida Keys **Tropical Storm Warning discontinued for the Lower Florida Keys** **Tropical Storm Watch discontinued for the Middle Florida Keys** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - All watches and warnings have been canceled for the Lower and Middle Florida Keys * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * STORM INFORMATION: - About 230 miles northwest of Key West FL or about 260 miles northwest of Marathon FL - 27.0N 84.3W - Storm Intensity 65 mph - Movement North-northwest or 330 degrees at 13 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ Tropical Storm Debby is centered about 130 miles west southwest of Tampa, Florida and is moving to the north northwest at 13 mph. With the threat for sustained tropical storm force winds having ended for the Florida Keys, tropical storm watches and warnings have been discontinued for land zones. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for all waters west of the 7-Mile Bridge, including the Dry Tortugas. Occasional squalls will continue to impact the Lower Keys this afternoon, bringing heavy downpours and peak wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. Strong southerly winds will continue through the afternoon over the Lower Keys, with sustained wind speeds of 25 mph and peak gusts of 35 mph expected. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Lower Keys through this evening. Conditions will slowly improve later today into this evening as Debby moves away from our area. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through this morning, with saltwater flooding of low lying areas expected, especially during the higher high tide that is ongoing.
