A storm moving north over the Chukchi Sea Sunday night and Monday is expected to bring strong southerly winds along with snow and blowing snow to the Western North Slope of Alaska from Point Hope to Utqiagvik from Sunday night into Monday. South winds could gust between 30 and 50 mph and there could be near blizzard conditions in snow and blowing snow. Snow fall amounts of 2 to 6 inches are possible, with the heaviest amounts near Point Hope and in the Western Brooks Range. The strongest winds and lowest visibility are expected late Sunday night into Monday. Another system moving up from the south will likely bring more winds, snow and blowing snow over northwest Alaska and the western Brooks Range on Tuesday. $$ JK
