WWPS22 ABRF 070706 IDQ20016 Australian Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre SOLOMON ISLANDS ADVISORY Issued at 0706 UTC on 7 DECEMBER 2023 Special Advisory Number 18 Severe Tropical Cyclone Jasper 03F/02U at 070600 UTC Located at Latitude: 12.6S Longitude: 156.9E which is about 490 km southwest of Honiara Moving: SSW at 5 knots. Central Pressure: 966 hPa Mean maximum winds to 80 knots with maximum gusts to 110 knots. The location accuracy is within 15 nautical miles. Forecast position at 1800 UTC Latitude: 13.6S Longitude: 156.6E Severe Tropical Cyclone Jasper 03F/02U is moving away in the southern Solomon Sea. Jasper is moving away from the Solomon Islands towards the south southwest into the Coral Sea. Gales are occurring within 100 nautical miles northeast from the centre but not extending over any islands. Deep convective bands with heavy showers and storms are continuing in the outer edge of Jasper over the main islands especially over New Georgia, Guadalcanal, Makira and the Rennell Islands. Conditions should ease further as Jasper moves away into the Coral Sea. No further Special Advisories will be issued for this system.
