A STRONG COLD FRONT STRETCHED ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTHERN OKLAHOMA 
HAD MOVED INTO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA... REACHING THE OKLAHOMA CITY METRO 
BY NOONTIME.  AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT BOUNDARY... THE SKIES WERE 
SUNNY WITH INCREASING CLOUDINESS NEAR THE BOUNDARY... WITH SOUTHWEST 
WINDS AT 10 TO 20 MPH.  BEHIND THE COLD FRONT... THE SKIES WERE 
OVERCAST WITH NORTH WINDS AT 15 TO 20 MPH... AND GUSTS AT 20 TO 30 
MPH.  THE COOLER AIR LAGGED SLIGHTLY BEHIND THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY... 
WITH TEMPERATURES RISING INTO THE MID TO UPPER 80S... GENERALLY WEST 
AND NORTH OF THE I-44 CORRIDOR.  HOWEVER... AHEAD OF THE FRONT... 
MOIST AND HOT AIR REMAINED IN PLACE FOR ONE MORE DAY... WITH HIGH 
TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S AND TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT INDEX 
VALUES FROM 100 TO 105 DEGREES.  SOME AREAS SOUTH OF THE RED RIVER 
DID REACH TRIPLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES... WITH A HIGH OF 101 DEGREES AT 
WICHITA FALLS.  BY 2 PM... SCATTERED SHOWERS WITH A FEW WEAK 
EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED BEHIND THE COLD FRONT IN 
WESTERN OKLAHOMA... EVENTUALLY SPREADING INTO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ABOUT 
AN HOUR LATER.  BY 5 PM... SHOWERS AND UP TO STRONG THUNDERSTORMS 
HAD BEGAN FIRING UP ALONG THE COLD FRONT AS IT PUSHED ACROSS WESTERN 
NORTH TEXAS AND SOUTHCENTRAL OKLAHOMA... WITH SMALL HAIL REPORTED IN 
ARDMORE.  ONE OF THE STORMS DID INTENSIFY TO MARGINALLY SEVERE IN 
SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA.
 
AT 8 PM... SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO FIRE UP ALONG THE 
COLD FRONT IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA.  BEHIND THE FRONT... MIDLEVEL 
CLOUDINESS WAS KEEPING THE SKIES MOSTLY CLOUDY TO OVERCAST ACROSS 
CENTRAL AND NORTHERN OKLAHOMA... TO CLEAR SKIES ACROSS SOUTHWEST 
OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS.  THE WINDS WERE OUT OF THE NORTH 
AT 10 TO 15 MPH BEHIND THE COLD FRONT... AS COOLER AND DRIER AIR WAS 
BEGINNING TO FILTER IN.  THE TEMPERATURES HAD SO FAR FALLEN INTO THE 
MID TO UPPER 70S ACROSS MOST OF OUR REGION... TO THE UPPER 60S NEAR 
THE KANSAS STATE LINE.  HOWEVER JUST AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT IN 
SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA... THE TEMPERATURES WERE AROUND 90 DEGREES.
