...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 AM CDT THIS 
MORNING FOR SOUTHERN FAYETTE AND NORTHERN MARION COUNTIES IN SOUTH 
CENTRAL ILLINOIS...

At 528 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding due to 
heavy thunderstorms that moved through the area earlier this 
morning. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Little to no 
additional rainfall is expected.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Vandalia, Kinmundy, Mulberry Grove, Farina, Omega, Shobonier, 
  Stephen Forbes Station, Pittsburg, Shafter, St. Peter, Alma, 
  Vernon, St. Paul, Brubaker and Hagerstown.

This includes the following highways...
	Interstate 70 in Illinois near exit 61.
	Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 127 and 135.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
