At 230 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated a band of moderate to heavy rainfall with embedded thunderstorms over northern Charleston County, primarily over the Awendaw to McClellanville areas. This band is expected to produce an addition 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall by 3 PM. Radar rainfall estimates and automated rain gauge indicate that 4 to 6 inches has fallen over the area so far today. Some weather stations near the South Santee River reported over 10 inches of rainfall. The combination of elevated tide levels along with the heavy rainfall will likely lead to additional flooding along streams and creeks. In addition, low areas will likely develop deep ponding of water, flooding roads and possibly nearby structures. In addition, social media and traffic reports indicates that flooding is ongoing across portions of Mount Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, James and Johns Islands.
