The National Weather Service in Little Rock has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Newton County in north central Arkansas...
  Southwestern Searcy County in north central Arkansas...

* Until 900 AM CST.

* At 748 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated additional heavy rain 
  across the warned area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have 
  fallen. While rain will end within the next 30 to 60 minutes, 
  flash flooding is likely ongoing with numerous Buffalo River 
  tributaries experiencing very high flows at this time. The main 
  stem Buffalo River at St. Joe recorded a nearly 5 foot rise in an 
  hour as well.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 
creeks.
