The National Weather Service in New Orleans has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  East Central Livingston Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
  Southern St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
  Southern Tangipahoa Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
  Southern Hancock County in southern Mississippi...

* Until 300 AM CDT.

* At 1230 AM CDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding 
  across the warned area. Between 6 and 8 inches of rain have 
  fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall 
  is expected.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Slidell, Hammond, Bay St. Louis, Covington, Waveland, Diamondhead, 
  Ponchatoula, Pearl River, Abita Springs, Madisonville, 
  Springfield, Lacombe, Stennis Space Center, Pearlington, Robert, 
  Kiln, Shoreline Park, Natalbany and Slidell Airport.

This includes the following Interstates...
	Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 17.
	Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 261 and 273.
	Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 20 and 31.
	Interstate 12 between mile markers 37 and 84.
	Interstate 59 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 8.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
