The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Franklin County in south central Nebraska...
  Furnas County in south central Nebraska...
  Harlan County in south central Nebraska...

* Until 545 AM CDT Tuesday.

* As of 1140 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges 
  indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned 
  area. Some areas mainly in the northern one-third of Furnas and 
  Harlan Counties have already received at least 2 to 4 inches of 
  rain, with parts of the area likely to receive another 1 to 2 
  inches before rain ends. Significant Flash flooding is already 
  occurring in parts of the area, and could yet occur in other parts 
  of the area before the night ends. 

* As just a sampling of flooding reports in the area this evening, 
  water was reported over parts of Highway 6/34 between Cambridge 
  and Arapahoe around 1040 PM CDT. Numerous county roads and small 
  streams are likely flooded or will flood as the night wears on. 

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
  Alma, Cambridge, Arapahoe, Oxford, Beaver City, Orleans, Holbrook,
  Stamford, Republican City, Edison, Wilsonville, Huntley, Ragan,
  Hendley, Hollinger and Harlan County Dam.

This includes the following streams and drainages...Swartz Creek...

Creek...Deep Creek....Sappa Creek...West Branch Thompson 
Creek.

This Flash Flood Warning effectively replaces the one earlier issued 
for Furnas County that was valid until 230 AM CDT. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
