The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Charlotte County in south central Virginia...
  Halifax County in south central Virginia...

* Until 930 PM EDT Thursday.

* At 138 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from Tropical 
  Storm Debby across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain 
  have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in an 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches are possible 
  in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  South Boston...                    Halifax...
  Brookneal...                       Keysville...
  Charlotte Court House...           Phenix...
  Virgilina...

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Ash Camp Creek, Bales Spring Branch, Ballous Creek, Allen Creek, 
  Banister River, Austin Creek, Aarons Creek, and Armistead Branch.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, 
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
