...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central Mississippi and east central 
  Mississippi, including the following counties, in central 
  Mississippi, Leake, Madison and Scott. In east central 
  Mississippi, Kemper, Neshoba and Newton.

* WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads 
  remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all 
  the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems 
  in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1201 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain continuing
    to move across the area and flooding is ongoing. Between 4
    and 9 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Jackson, Canton, Philadelphia, Forest, Carthage, Morton,
    Newton, Prospect, Edinburg, Harperville, Nanih Waiya,
    Preston, Pearl River, Neshoba, Lawrence, Decatur, De Kalb,
    Liberty, Dowdville and Dixon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
