...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM MDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...The city of Carlsbad.

* WHEN...Until 345 AM MDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of roads, arroyos, and other low-lying and 
  flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Some roads remain 
  closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with 
  water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 654 PM MDT, Trained weather spotters reported heavy rain
    in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing.
    Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen and some
    additional amounts are expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Carlsbad, Carlsbad North and Living Desert State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. 
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. 
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
