.Heavy Rain has caused rises in numerous small streams.  In 
addition  ponding of water in low spots and in poor drainage areas 
will continue this afternoon.  Radar indicates moderate rain will 
continue for another couple of hours before tapering off late this 
afternoon.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MDT/4 PM PDT/ THIS 
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Idaho, including the following 
  counties, Adams and Washington. Portions of Oregon, including the 
  following counties, Baker and Malheur.

* WHEN...Until 500 PM MDT /400 PM PDT/.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is 
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 111 PM MDT /1211 PM PDT/, gauge reports indicated heavy
    rain due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small
    stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already
    caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and
    2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
    Baker City, Ontario, Weiser, Brogan, Huntington, Halfway,
    Richland, Weatherby, Dixie, Durkee, Lime, McChord Butte, Rye
    Valley, Henley Basin, and Farewell Bend State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
