...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and west central 
  Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, 
  in south central Virginia, City of Danville, City of Martinsville, 
  Henry and Pittsylvania. In southwest Virginia, Patrick. In west 
  central Virginia, Franklin.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain impassible due to flooding, and 
  are likely to remain so this morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 527 AM EDT, The department of transportation reported
    ongoing flooding across the warned area, with several roads
    impacted with water. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have
    fallen since Thursday.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Archies Creek, Ararat River, Allen Creek, Banister River,
    Back Creek and Anglin Branch.
    Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
    warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Danville, Martinsville, Rocky Mount, Altavista, Stuart, Hurt
    and Chatham.
  - This includes the following locations...
    The Martinsville Speedway, Martinsville Airport and Danville
    Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, 
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather 
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
