...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 AM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of Virginia, including the following counties and 
  independent cities, Alleghany VA, Bedford, Botetourt, City of 
  Roanoke, City of Salem, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Montgomery and 
  Roanoke and southeast West Virginia, including the following 
  county, Monroe.

* WHEN...Until 1245 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor 
  drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1038 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 1 and 3
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Back Creek and Barbours Creek.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Roanoke...                         Salem...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, 
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather 
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
