...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 346 AM HST, a strong thunderstorm was located 6 miles southwest of
Hanapepe, or 21 miles west of Lihue, moving northeast at 25 mph.

Wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Kapaa, Kalaheo, Kekaha, Hanapepe, Omao, North Fork Wailua Trails,
Koloa, Lawai, Wailua Homesteads, Waimea, Poipu, Waimea Canyon State
Park, Kaumakani, Pakala Village, Eleele, Puhi and Wailua River State
Park.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
