...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTH CENTRAL CATAWBA...EASTERN
LINCOLN...NORTHWESTERN MECKLENBURG AND NORTHEASTERN GASTON COUNTIES
THROUGH 515 PM EDT...

At 429 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles northeast of Lincolnton, or 5 miles west of Denver, moving
southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is 
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Lincolnton, Huntersville, Cornelius, Mt Holly, Stanley, Westport,
High Shoals, Boger City, Iron Station, and Denver.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
the Piedmont of North Carolina.
