...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southwestern Catawba,
southeastern McDowell, Rutherford, eastern Polk, western Lincoln,
Cleveland, southern Burke, northeastern Greenville, northern
Spartanburg and northwestern Cherokee Counties through 1000 AM EDT...

At 929 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 9 miles northwest of Shelby to 6 miles
southwest of Rutherfordton to 11 miles south of Columbus. Movement
was northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Shelby, Newton, Forest City, Rutherfordton, Boiling Springs SC,
Spindale, Boiling Springs NC, Landrum, Cowpens and Inman.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
