The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  West central Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North
  Carolina...
  Southeastern Gaston County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  North central York County in Upstate South Carolina...

* Until 645 PM EDT.
    
* At 600 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 7 miles southwest of Gastonia, or near Clover, moving
  northeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Gastonia around 610 PM EDT.
  Cramerton, Mcadenville, Lowell, Ranlo and Steele Creek around 630 
  PM EDT.
  Lake Wylie, Southwest Charlotte, Charlotte Douglas Airport, 
  Belmont and Paw Creek around 640 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include
Crowders.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
